Most who first start off online tend to go the affiliate route… because it’s the road most traveled and option with least resistance.

But, if you ask many internet marketers – “What would you do differently, if you were to start all over again today?”

9 out of 10 would say – “Create my own product!”

Now creating your own product is no easy task. It takes some discipline, some focus and most importantly a plan to keep you moving forward.

You basically have two options to go with here:

  1. Outsource to a third party
  2. Write it yourself

Now many will choose the easy way out by having the whole process outsourced to a third party… which is completely okay – but if you can write the product yourself then I suggest you put in a little effort and do it yourself. This way you have full control over the outcome of the product where only you can offer some genuine insight, all while adding a little bit of YOU to the whole process.

Now, writing an eBook can be difficult, which is why I’m sharing my 7 Tips that I do when I start out writing a new eBook – which may really help:

  • Choose a Subject You Know

You’ll have a much easier time writing about something you know about, or something you’re good at. So pick a subject matter you’re either know about or are passionate about.

  • What’s Your ‘Value Proposition?’

In its simplest terms, a value proposition is a positioning statement that explains what benefit you provide for who and how you do it uniquely well. It describes your target buyer, the pain point you solve, and why you’re distinctly better than the alternatives.

In other words… how will your eBook change the reader’s life – Will they be richer… stronger… happier or smarter?

  • Read Other eBooks/Books in Your Niche

Coming up with your eBook subject is one thing. Actually making that idea work is quite another – luckily you have access to the world-wide-web.

Simply search online for similar subjects/ideas to yours. This is a great way to get inspiration to move you forward.

  • Put in a Structure

Unlike with articles or blog posts where you can make it up as you go along… when planning your eBook it really pays to have some sort of structure in place before starting. This will keep you focused and on track.

So, spending a little time planning this out will save you future frustrations.

  • Write Every Day

Writing a blog post every day takes discipline… same as writing articles. Writing an eBook also requires huge amounts of discipline. So make it your goal to write every day. A chapter… a page… a paragraph – something!

  • Add Images and Tables

Adding images and tables not only adds a bit of color, but is also visually pleasant to the reader – but also adds value to your eBook.

But don’t just add any image or table. Make sure it does directly relate to your subject.

  • Get it Proofread

I guess this one is a no-brainer…but make sure you get your eBook checked for errors and typos. You can hire a proof-reader on Fiverr.com for five or ten bucks which would be well worth it to ensure absolute professionalism.
